Municipal solid waste includes all waste produced by households.

It can be divided into three main categories:

– non-recyclable solid waste (or waste which is not yes recyclable)

– dry recyclable waste (newspapers, miscellaneous paper, cardboard, magazines, glass, aluminium, plastics)

– organic or fermentable waste (food waste, grass, wood, etc.).

This waste is collected via conventional kerbside collection (for residual household waste), separate recycling collection, recycling centres, and yard waste collection.
